essay on living

“My art and profession is to live.”
— Michel de Montaigne
So pleased with my lunches this week! Recipes: vegan kale Caesar and parm (@minimalistbaker), garlic lemon hummus (@mamaeatsplants), lentil salad (@mynewroots), tapenade (from the Middle Eastern grocery store down the street) and turmeric ginger sauerkraut (@gkstories). ps this is my first fermentation attempt and I am SOLD. #plantbased #foodfoodfood #sauerkraut4life
For the last two months, we’ve been eating plant based/vegan-ish. A few weeks ago, a grocery store clerk said to me, “Are you vegan? Isn’t that so expensive?” So just dispelling that myth here. For $20.31 I got onion, 2 heads garlic, butternut, 2 sweet taters, avocado, green cabbage, broccoli, scallions, kale, rice noodz, flour, and 5 cans of Fancy Feast for (non-vegan) Ratcat. Also library books = free! This + pantry food we have at home (beans, rice, etc.) will last us almost a full week. It’s cheap! Also, still attempting #zerowaste 🤑🥔🥦🌾#plantbased #groceryhaul
